Cooperation, Skeletal and Muscular Systems

What a great day! We had the opportunity to host co-op at our home and a good time of learning and fun was had by all. We are so thankful to be part of this co-op and feel blessed that they asked us to join them. As a group we are focusing on both a character trait and the human body with this part of our curriculum. Our families meet every other week and spend the day on specific activities to support the learning we have done at home. We also take the time to enjoy lunch together and play for a bit before everyone has to head home. Enjoy a peek at a few of our activities from yesterday.

We had some time to play. This is actually how we ended our day, but I have been having problems with the layout of this post and have just decided that we can start with our ending this time around. :)

The children had their bodies traced, hung on the wall, then enjoyed placing specific bones and organs on their outlines. It was fun to see how much they could do on their own!

Dissecting raw chickens gave us the opportunity to observe some of the things we had been studying in the human body. We removed the skin, cut into the bones, noted muscles, cartilage, joints and even were able to take a look at some of the innards. Some of the children could have done this all day and others were mildly disgusted by the whole thing. :)
