My Chocolate Chip Cookie Baking Skills Have Been Challenged

Isaac announced one morning that he would like to make chocolate chip cookies....all by himself. He did such a great job and I was so proud of him. He read the recipe and I just monitored things to make sure he was measuring correctly, etc. The only part I had in the whole process was putting them in and taking them out of the oven. Isabelle declared that they were "way better" than mine. Guess I know who will be making the cookies around here now!

Taking Care of Minnie

A couple of weeks ago, Isaac and Isabelle were at Vacation Bible School one morning. I was sitting on the couch doing some reading and happened to have my camera sitting on the table next to me. Kate was so incredibly sweet as she sang to Minnie while she changed her diaper. I was able to snap several pictures before she realized that I was noticing her. I absolutely loved watching her be a little mommy to Minnie. :)

CSA

We have been so blessed this summer to be part of a very small CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). We have some friends who would like to expand their gardens and offer members of the community an opportunity to buy a share of their crops each year. This is done quite a bit around here with great success. People love buying local and have garden goodies during the growing season even if there aren't able to, or aren't interested in, gardening themselves. We got to be their guinea pigs and have thoroughly enjoyed both the food as well as learning a bit more about the whole growing and picking process.

Is There a More Beautiful Thing?!?!?

From a Mom who loves, loves, loves books, this truly is a thing of beauty. :)

Apple Prints

Isabelle recently started a new phonics program. She is working into her Kindergarten curriculum and is really enjoying it. She did some fun apple prints the other day. I don't know about you, but I LOVED doing this type of stuff when I was in school. :) Glad she shares my enthusiasm!! Kate had to get in on the painting action a bit as well.

Path to the Playset

We have had some excitement in our backyard!! Dean had a co-worker that moved recently and needed to get rid of his playset. It has found a new home in our backyard and we couldn't be more excited! Come and play anytime. :)

This is what our backyard looked like from the kitchen window before the work began.

The landscapers had to take a tree down so they could get their equipment to the back of our property. It was the entertainment of the day. Everyone was transfixed!

Wood chips will make it less muddy and a little safer for Kate, especially.

Here is the finished product! It has already provided much enjoyment and we look forward to sharing it with friends and family as often as possible.

We ordered pizza and ate it at the picnic table under the slide the first night it was ready. Pizza tastes even better on a new playset.

The night ended with celebratory fun dip that we had been saving for a special occasion.
