Losing Teeth

We had an exciting event take place at our house on February 14th and it didn't have anything to do with hearts, flowers, cards or gifts. Isabelle lost her first tooth!! Just a few days before she realized that it was loose and began to obsessively wiggle it and wonder what the "tooth fairy" might bring her. SO exciting!! (Please excuse the chocolate smeared on her face. She had eaten a donut for breakfast that was leftover from the weekend. :))

Sunday

Today we hit the road and joined a few homeschool friends at an air museum. So many cool things to look at and interesting people to talk to! Great way to end the weekend!!

We made a quick stop at the grocery store on the way home. Isabelle requested English Muffin Pizzas and we didn't have any pizza sauce. The simple meal was enjoyed by all and I must admit that by the time dinner was done I was ready to scoot those kiddos off to bed. :)

Saturday

We decided to stay in for the day. It was COLD and windy. We had been gone most of the day Friday and knew we would be gone for most of the day Sunday, so it would feel good to have a day to say low. Isaac started the day out by making a white covered box with string on it that Kate could decorate and pretend to tie. She has been obsessing over the string on sweatshirts, pants, etc and he thought she would enjoy the string part of it the most. Turns out, she loved the decorating part the most.

Pajamas were still on and out came the finger paints. Isaac decided to brave the messiness, much to my surprise. As you will see later on, he quickly moved to a different, safer kind of paint. :)

The girls could have covered their hands with blue, green, yellow and red and smeared them around on paper all day.

I attempted a bit of a finger-painting masterpiece, but alas, my services were needed elsewhere for much of the time, so I couldn't really get my creative juices flowing. :)

Isaac was the first to move to the "safer" paint and soon enough we were able to convince the girls to head that direction as well.

In between refilling paint and paper supplies, I found a nice, warm spot of sun in the dining room to sit in and read a few pages in my book while I finished up my second cup of coffee.

While Kate was napping, Isaac and Isabelle watched a few episodes of the Flinstones and snacked on popcorn. As usual, something has stopped working while you are gone. The sound of the tv isn't working. Crazy, I know!! The kids didn't mind watching their show on my laptop. Hopefully the piles of laundry won't still be there when you get home!

Highlight of the day was us seeing you on ESPN2 while you were in Daytona!! We were all jumping up and down like crazy fools. If someone was watching they would have thought you were accepting the trophy. :)

Many games of UNO were played throughout the day and Isaac succeeded in completely humiliating me.

Isaac asked if he could make tacos for dinner. He has watched me make them several times, but this was his first time making them from start to finish. He was pretty proud of himself!

Friday

Pajamas were on and the girls were picking out stories to be read before bed. I was hoping to be able to keep my eyes open long enough to read them. We had a full day starting with our homeschool co-op and ending with a play/coffee date with friends. Without realizing how weary his mother was, Isaac asked if he could read to the girls. It was my favorite part of the day to curl up on the couch and listen to him read.

Isabelle did a little reading of her own next to me while Isaac read to Kate. She waited patiently for her turn to have a story read by her big brother.

Thursday

**The next four posts are especially for Daddy so that he can see what we have been up to while he has been gone. Can't wait to see him tomorrow!! We hope that the rest of you enjoy seeing some recent pictures as well. :)**

We have made it a practice to eat dinner with the candles lit lately. It makes for a nice way to end the day and creates a nice atmosphere for dinner and reading afterward. On Thursday evening the kids decided they not only wanted to light the candles, but wanted to eat with all of the lights off as well. Day one of doing things out of the ordinary to make dinner a little less lonely. :)

"I Want To Do MY School"

This week, our headstrong, independent 2-year-old announced to me in no uncertain terms that she wanted to do HER school. While I do school with our two oldest she typically sits next to me, on my lap, plays or colors and has never had any interest in doing anything much more than that. I was happy to oblige her and thought focusing on her letters in a fun way would be just the thing. I found these great printable here and here.

She had so much fun and was so proud of her finished work. She proceeded to find the closest magnet and attach all of her pages to the front of the refrigerator.

Not one to be left out of the picture taking, handwriting and part of her phonics work for the day was the focus.

The great thing about Kindergarten is that it can include a game of War pretty much any day.

Often people ask me what I do to occupy Kate during school. As I said before, she often just likes to sit with me or play with Isabelle when Isaac and I are working together. However, the above are a few of her favorite things to pull out when I need to focus my attention on Isabelle.
