Soda Making

For Christmas Isaac got a really neat "Soda Pop Kit" (It was so kind of them to use both names for this fizzy drink. In New England soda is the must use term and home calls for the use of pop all the way. :)) from his cousin. One night when I was out for dinner with a friend he and Dad got busy mixing up various concoctions. They tried four different soda flavors and here was the report as it was given to me:

Chocolate: Terrible
Cherry: Good
Cherry Vanilla: Favorite
Vanilla: Good

He still has supplies and can't wait for the next go around. He saved a sample for me and I tried it out when I got home. Honestly, it tasted like cough syrup, but I am willing to give it another try at some point. :)

The Great Snowfall of 2011

Well, we have had a crazy amount of snow over the last couple of days. It came down fast and has entirely changed the landscape of our entire town. I am amazed by it beauty and have enjoyed watching the kids play and wade through both yesterday and today. Thought I would share a few pictures so you can better imagine how things look when we gaze out our windows. :)

My Chocolate Chip Cookie Baking Skills Have Been Challenged

Isaac announced one morning that he would like to make chocolate chip cookies....all by himself. He did such a great job and I was so proud of him. He read the recipe and I just monitored things to make sure he was measuring correctly, etc. The only part I had in the whole process was putting them in and taking them out of the oven. Isabelle declared that they were "way better" than mine. Guess I know who will be making the cookies around here now!

Taking Care of Minnie

A couple of weeks ago, Isaac and Isabelle were at Vacation Bible School one morning. I was sitting on the couch doing some reading and happened to have my camera sitting on the table next to me. Kate was so incredibly sweet as she sang to Minnie while she changed her diaper. I was able to snap several pictures before she realized that I was noticing her. I absolutely loved watching her be a little mommy to Minnie. :)

CSA

We have been so blessed this summer to be part of a very small CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). We have some friends who would like to expand their gardens and offer members of the community an opportunity to buy a share of their crops each year. This is done quite a bit around here with great success. People love buying local and have garden goodies during the growing season even if there aren't able to, or aren't interested in, gardening themselves. We got to be their guinea pigs and have thoroughly enjoyed both the food as well as learning a bit more about the whole growing and picking process.

Is There a More Beautiful Thing?!?!?

From a Mom who loves, loves, loves books, this truly is a thing of beauty. :)
