Making Uncle Jay Proud

Isaac loves legos. In fact, love probably doesn't even really describe how strongly Isaac feels about legos. :) When I watch him building I can't help but picture my younger brother many years ago. He too loved legos and built some pretty amazing creations. Well, after Isaac spent a couple of days building, changing and creating, he finished his vehicle and wanted me to take pictures so his uncle could take a virtual peek. So, Uncle Jay, this one is for you. :)

Homeschool Co-op: March 11, 2010

I have gotten a bit behind on my posting, so watch out world, my plan is to catch up in the next couple of days, which means lots of pictures of things that haven't happened all that recently. :) A couple of weeks ago we continued on in our human body study and focused on the circulatory, digestive and respiratory systems. We did a lot of reading and some activities at home, then came together with two other families and had a full day of fun and learning. We mimicked the role our stomach has in the digestive process with ziploc bags and applesauce. The kids had a good time squeezing the bags and we only had one small explosion. We also had the opportunity to look at the digestive process through a couple of other experiences. Following the digestive we moved into discussing the respiratory system and used our lungs to displace water from a submerged jug. The kids had a great time seeing how much water they could push out of the jug. I love some of the faces I caught with the camera (yes, we did clean the tube in between children :)). We had an ice cream sandwich break to celebrate the warmer weather, then spent some time looking through a couple of different types of microscopes. A favorite activity of the day was when the kids got to listen to their own heartbeat and the heartbeat of others with a real stethoscope.

Painting in our Pajamas

Painting was an early morning request at the Seiler house, so we dove in even before getting dressed. Kate wanted in on the action and experienced watercolors for the very first time. We are quite certain she will be famous one day! :)

Fun With Friends

We were blessed with amazing temps today and with an afternoon visit with friends. While the babies slept the big kids played outside. They had lots of fun! We are definitely looking forward to many more afternoons outside as we get closer to summer!!

Sunday Night Pizzas

In January , Dean and I sat down to talk through the upcoming year. We made some plans and set a few goals that, Lord willing, we would be able to implement this year. The following captures one of the more light-hearted plans we made. Sunday nights are reserved for make-your-own english muffin pizzas and games. We aren't always able to make this happen, but love it when we do. In fact, we have probably missed more Sunday evenings that not, but the year is still young. :) I grew up making and eating english muffin pizzas and it has been one of those fun things to now do with my own children. We pulled out the requested ingredients, began the assembly, then patiently waited while they baked. They were delish!
