This One Is For You Daddy

Dean, we just want you to know how much we missed you this week and how much we were anticipating your homecoming. :) We tried not to be completely devastated when your flight was cancelled on Thursday night and were so excited that you were, unexpectedly, able to come home on Friday night. We finished school early on Friday and made a list of things we could do to enjoy our day and make the time fly by. We baked cookies, did some painting, played in the snow and played games. We were all so excited that you could join us in our last few rounds of Flippin' Frogs. :)

Hands on History

This afternoon we tackled a portion of history that highlighted the spread of Islam. It focused on the actual conquering and amassing of land versus the spread of the Muslim religion. We read a couple of fun, although sometimes a bit intense, Arabic stories, then did some map work, crafts and baking. I love seeing the kids learn history in this hands-on fashion. Maybe they will even retain a bit here and there. :)

The Ankle Bone's Connected to the...

We have been studying the human body for the last week and are starting with the skeletal and muscular systems. I found this fun Magic School Bus science kit with a great chart for us to hang on the wall. Isaac and Isabelle worked on labeling some of the skeletal system today. In a couple of weeks we will join two others families and have a day centered around these two systems and will be tracing our own bodies and doing some labeling.

February Snow

We have had some absolutely beautiful snow in the last few weeks. It is so hard to capture that beauty with a camera, but I gave it a valiant effort. Enjoy!
